Kasba shooting row: TMC councillor targeted, Pappu gang ties exposed in illegal godown scandal

A shooting attempt on TMC councillor Sushanta Ghosh in the Kasba area has resulted in the arrest of two suspects, Yuvraj and Gulzar, who are currently in police custody. The attack occurred on the evening of [specific date], when Ghosh was reportedly targeted near his residence. The suspects were arrested shortly after the incident, and during subsequent interrogations, investigators discovered key information about their involvement. Authorities seized their mobile phones, where they found numerous conversations with several women. The police are now working to determine the identities of these women and whether they are linked to the criminal activities surrounding the shooting incident.

In the course of the investigation, it was revealed that the women involved in these communications are connected to the Pappu gang, a notorious criminal organization operating primarily in Bihar. This gang is known for its involvement in various illegal activities, including extortion, land grabbing, and other violent crimes. Police found that the members of the gang, including Yuvraj and Gulzar, had adopted a unique strategy to hide their identities and avoid detection by law enforcement. They saved their phone numbers under female names in their mobile phones, which, investigators believe, was a deliberate attempt to mislead authorities in case of a device seizure. Police are meticulously analyzing the messages and call records to understand the full extent of the gang's involvement in the shooting and any other criminal activities.

Additionally, the police have turned their attention to an illegal godown constructed on disputed land in the Gulsan area, which is linked to the suspects. The godown, covering an area of approximately 2,000 square feet, is suspected to have been built without proper legal permits. Preliminary investigations show that part of the land was classified as agricultural, while the rest was government-owned. Authorities suspect that the land was illegally occupied and that the godown was constructed as part of a broader criminal operation. The police are investigating how the land was seized and whether the godown was used for illicit purposes, such as the storage of contraband or as a base for the Pappu gang’s activities. Investigators are tracing the ownership and construction process of the godown, with a focus on any links between the land grab and the suspects in the shooting case.
